Paying for RapidAPI: what to know
- Freemium APIs need a card even on the free BASIC tier, because exceeding the quota triggers overage charges.
- Your card is charged in three cases: when you subscribe, when the monthly subscription renews, and when you go over quota.
- Unsubscribing and resubscribing charges you again — use Change Plan instead of re-subscribing.
- Unsubscribing takes effect immediately, and overage refunds need the API provider's approval.
- Overage rates differ for every API, so check the Pricing tab before you send a lot of requests.
If the payment fails
- Check the balance of the card itself, not the main balance in the bot: the charge goes to the card.
- Re-enter the number, expiry date and CVC: a typo is a common reason for a decline.
- Don't retry many times in a row: payment systems may temporarily decline frequent attempts. Wait and try again.
