Paying for Airalo (eSIM): what to know
- Switch the currency to USD before you buy. Airalo supports 16 currencies, and if your order currency doesn't match the card's, your bank converts it and may add international fees.
- Airmoney is Airalo's reward balance: you earn it from purchases and referrals rather than buying it. You can combine it with a card via Apply Code / Use Airmoney, but you can't apply a balance under $1.
- Renewals can't be paid with Airmoney and need a saved payment method. If you turn renewals on, keep the card saved and funded.
- Topping up an installed eSIM is paid the same way as the first purchase, and you don't need to install a new eSIM.
- Buy the eSIM before you travel, while you're on Wi-Fi. Checkout and installation need internet, and the 3-D Secure code from VirtCardPay arrives in the Telegram bot.
If the payment fails
- Check the balance of the card itself, not the main balance in the bot: the charge goes to the card.
- Re-enter the number, expiry date and CVC: a typo is a common reason for a decline.
- Don't retry many times in a row: payment systems may temporarily decline frequent attempts. Wait and try again.
