Paying for Microsoft 365: what to know
- Yearly billing is much cheaper than monthly: Personal is $99.99 a year versus $9.99 a month.
- The free month requires a payment method and turns into a paid plan when it ends. Cancel at account.microsoft.com/services with the Cancel link.
- If the subscription page shows Turn on recurring billing instead of Cancel, renewal is already off and you won't be charged.
- Microsoft can't cancel or refund a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. To pay by card directly, buy it on Microsoft's site.
- Cancel early: Microsoft recommends doing it more than 2 days before the billing date.
If the payment fails
- Check the balance of the card itself, not the main balance in the bot: the charge goes to the card.
- Re-enter the number, expiry date and CVC: a typo is a common reason for a decline.
- Don't retry many times in a row: payment systems may temporarily decline frequent attempts. Wait and try again.
